Copywriters create written content for advertising and promotional purposes. We write words that engage, inform and sell. The words on your website, on promotional material, in email campaigns, sales letters, and blog posts.

It’s about more than words on a page. A copywriter tells your story. We dig deep to find out what makes you special, what problems you solve, and why potential clients should choose YOU.

To learn more about what a copywriter does check out this blog post.

A copywriter can help you nail your messaging with copy and content that resonates with your ideal clients. In an increasingly online world, your website words need to speak up and stand out.

A copywriter can help you:

  • Define your ideal client
  • Create a brand story centred around the wants and needs of your customers
  • Create web copy that converts
  • Develop a content strategy that leads to sales

A copywriter focuses more on sales-based copy for marketing purposes (such as website copy and sales pages) while a content writer spends most of their time creating blog posts, video scripts, or social media captions. Some (like myself) are trained in both sales copy and content strategy.

Content marketing involves creating and sharing online content (blogs, video, social media) for the purpose of building interest in a company, its products or services.

The content you create serves your audience, builds trust, makes connections, and piques interest in your offers. It’s a long game –  like building a small-town community in a big online world.

Yes! Blog posts can help your website rank better on Google (Bing and Yahoo). Each post you create is a chance to:

  • rank for another keyword
  • drive traffic to your site
  • prove your credibility
  • improve your domain authority
  • encourage readers to stay on your site longer (which search engines see as a good sign!)
  • gain backlinks from other sites
  • let the search engines know you have an active, fresh site

Content strategy simply means you have plan! Constantly churning out content is great, but if it never leads to an increase in revenue, what’s the point?

A content strategy helps you answer questions such as:

  • Who is my ideal client?
  • What type of content will appeal to them?
  • How can I build a community around my brand that builds trust and makes connections?
  • When (and how) will I ask for the sale?

Check out this blog post for more tips on how to create a content marketing strategy.

This is your brand voice we’re talking about – every piece of copy or content that goes into the world builds your brand. Make sure you’re in good hands! Spend time on their website, look through their work, and ask questions.

Questions to ask:

  • What is their process? (it should include strategy and time with you to learn about your business well before pen hits paper)
  • Do you like their writing style? While we can morph into different voices, it’s best to choose someone who’s vibe you like.
  • What happens if you don’t like your copy or content?
  •  How do they measure success?
